Garden Art
Fun Stuff Grows Good Memories Aunt Linda was so excited to give me a surprise-gift for my gardens. I sure never would have bought it for myself. But it fit right in with the farmer theme of garden bed #5C. I all ready had my grandson's old toy tractor & wagon set out. Later he & I found pretty rocks to put in the wagon. "Little Boy Blue" always gets comments & giggles from garden visitors. He grows a smile on so many faces. Remember, girls just want to have fun!
"When Pigs Fly!" My grandma actually used the old saying; "When Pigs Fly!" I smiled when I saw this little pig at the Knoxville Garden Gala. He followed me home. I love it!
Another cute little pig with my newest sedum. (May 04) Coral Reef Chinese Sedum (Sedum teractinum). Grows 3-4" tall. Ron drilled a couple of holes in piggy for drainage.

Joseph on a swing. The neighbor kids & grandkids love the old swing that hangs in the big walnut tree.
Naughty Kitty Special people give gardeners special gifts! It's just for FUN!
Hosta Lamp You won't find this in everyone's home, it's my Hosta Lamp. I'm sure one day it will be appraised on "Antique Roadshow" as a true priceless treasure. It is to me. Unique glass-block design by Josh Spece purchased at "In the Country" giftshop / Spring Fling 2005. I had to have it!

Brick Planters Discovered at a Vintage Yard Sale. Obviously, anyone who thinks to attach such a lovely label to a garage sale; also is creative enough to make planters of bricks. Why don't I ever think of anything like that?
Ron & Marlys Create Sandcast Hosta Leaves Ron has been experimenting off & on trying to make hypertufa garden art without much success. This summer he's been leaning more toward 'modified' hypertufa recipes / concrete art. Saturday he convinced me to cut two huge 'Blue Angel' hosta leaves so we could try once again, to make casting for the garden.
It was fun! Hopefully they won't fall apart.
Ron forgot the peat moss in the first batch so it's just portland concrete & pearlite. The second batch is much lighter weight with peat moss added to the mixture. Making a Sand-Cast Birdbath - Garden Gate Magazine Hypertufa: Lightweight, Artificial "Do-It-Yourselfer" Stone Pots and Forms |
