Containers

When you're out of garden space:

CONTAINERS!

Just about any container will work; as long as it holds enough dirt & has good drainage. They will work for all the extra plants that have followed you home. You know, the ones you hide until your husband goes to work the next day. Then QUICK pot them up!

favorite garden cart

Favorite Garden Cart

The wheels finally wore off my favorite garden cart. I had to move a big Sedum Stardust so Ron could fix my shade house. I had no where to put it so the cart became it's home. The bottom of the cart has rusted out so there will be good drainage.

cute little pig

Another cute little pig with my newest sedum. (May 04) Coral Reef Chinese Sedum (Sedum teractinum). Grows 3-4" tall. Ron drilled a couple of holes in piggy for drainage.

Grandma's Garden

Grandma's Garden

My Grandma Vi loved to drink tea with friends & family. I saw this clay teapot a couple years ago & feel in love with it. But I thought it was too much money. Then it went on sale & I had to have it. Today (May 30, 2004) I potted it up & added it to Garden #3; "Grandma's Garden". It makes my heart smile.

tractor & wagon

My Aunt Linda surprised me with this whimsical planter this spring '04. I thought it went well with my grandson's old tractor & wagon. It's just for FUN!

chicken planter

Chicken Planter

My chicken planter. Yes, I know it's a rooster. The little potted plant's nick name is Dancing Ladies. Technical name: Streptocarpella hybrid 'Concord Blue'. It blooms all spring & summer & just gets prettier & prettier until frost. It is actually a house plant but who cares.

hosta 'krossa regal' pot

No plant is too big or too small to be potted up & enjoyed. Hosta 'Krossa Regal' in my birthday present; 2003.

pretty pots

Last spring I treated myself to a set of pretty pots. I deserved it. I'd been a good girl. This summer (2004) they are sitting on the potting shed porch. The smallest pot holds a variegated peace lily given to me when my dad died. The medium pot has that fun new grass in it. I'm trying to remember the name. Is it Neon Grass? The big pot has some plants I just thought were so pretty & peaceful. The bold white blooms of the New Guinea Impatiens contrast the greens & compliments the pots.

Hey, when you run out of space for hostas, there's always some kind of container to stick them in.
