Garden Bed #37
Here the lower waterfall splits leaving an island for a Birch tree & Yellow Flag Iris. Birds love this spot.
Here's a shot of the other branch of the waterfalls emptying into the bottom pond. Also note the bog garden on the right. Wild flowers are blooming in the background. This was taken in May. The birdhouse is another Ron creation covering some part of our septic system. Yellow Flag iris are blooming on the island. Can you hear the water babbling over the rocks in the stream?
Creeping Jenny
We always have some to share! Actually, Ron pulls it out & throws it in the compost pile almost weekly once it gets going.
Bed #37 Isn't this a little piece of "Fantasy Island"? I love the glow of hosta, Sum & Substance & the birch bark is so intriguing. I wonder how the Indians used it for canoes & the pioneers used it for writing paper. I just get to enjoy seeing it. The Creeping Jenny is an aggressive grower near the water but easily removed (Ron does it.) It is very shallow rooted. It creeps into the water too which is good oxygen production & food for the fish. The Koi slurp it in. |
