Tricolor Weigela

Tricolor Weigela welcomes spring along with the peonies. Bed #24 is a raised bed just beside & above Bed #23.

The bush was planted in '99. It was out of control this year & really getting huge. We made the hard decision to remove it. I just planted all my extra sun loving baby plants there for now. You know the ones you share with whoever wants them.

Mid-July '04

This is taken after Ron removed the out of control tri-colored Weigelia shrub from this raised box. I had some baby starts of geraniums & sedums in pots so stuck them in here to grow for awhile. Who knows what next year will bring!

Bed #24 - 2007

Geezee! Louise! It's hard to believe so much time has gone by since anything new has been added to some of these pages. I had every intention of posting new stuff on a regular basis when I began this venture. It seems certain areas of interest get more than their fair share of attention / time. And some times I just can't get a good enough picture to post.

Bed #24 is fun for me. I plant things here that I am curious about & want to learn more about. It has been white marigolds the last couple years. Year 2006 was a big fat flop attempting to grow the perfect white marigold. The fact that 4 cats use this box for their personal agenda may have affected that outcome.

If you look closely at the photo 2007, you'll see Mildred Ann is not looking very happy with the plants taking up all the space in the box. LOL! You may also notice one very large, white marigold too! Finally got one to grow here. I planted several others from seed in Bed #13 & Bed #11 that grew & were fun especially in the late summer & fall garden.

Yippee! I finally got white marigolds to grow. Now I wonder what their fallen seed will bring forth next year.

It's so fun!

These poppies freely self-seed all around the gardens. They are so wonderful I do not consider them weeds. I save the seeds to share with friends. I cut the seed pods to use in dried arrangements. They are so cool. - MM
